Yamabiko reduces CO2 emissions from temporary office at construction site by 90%. ~By experimentally studying a 50 kVA BESS multi-hybrid cube~

Yamabiko Corporation, in cooperation with Taiyo Kenki Rental Co., is conducting an experimental study of power supply at construction sites using the newly developed BESS type*1 "Shindaiwa 50kVA Multi-Hybrid Cube". This experimental study started in September 2024, and at that time we announced in a press release that our goal was to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 70%*2. This time, after 96 days of operation, we have confirmed a reduction of approximately 90%*3 in CO2 emissions, exceeding the original target. With these results, the effectiveness of this system has been further clarified and is expected to contribute to further decarbonization on construction sites.

50kVA multi-hybrid cube power system used in this experimental study

When the weather is clear, this system stores excess solar power in storage batteries, eliminating the need for generator operation. When it rains, the system prioritizes power from the storage batteries and controls generator operation to a minimum. This maximizes the use of renewable energy and minimizes CO2 emissions. Compared to power supplied by the generator alone, the cost of diesel oil is reduced by approximately 89%, contributing to cost reduction.

System configuration

Furthermore, the reduction of generator operating hours can be expected to have the following secondary benefits:
・Reduction of maintenance costs (less frequent oil and filter changes)
・Improvement of the working environment (less stress on site personnel because of reduced engine noise)enefits:

We will continue to improve the effectiveness of the system and contribute to the further decarbonization of construction sites based on the results of this experimental study.
