Responsibility to Employees

Promoting work-life balance

To allow all employees to work with peace of mind and display their abilities sufficiently, Yamabiko strives to provide a comfortable workplace environment and to adopt working styles where both work and life are in harmony.

【Childcare and nursing care support】
To support employees who want to balance both work and childcare, we have established a system that meets their needs while exceeding the standards of legal mandates such as the Pre- and Post-Natal Leave System, the Childcare Leave/Reduced Working Hour System and the Nursing Care Leave/Reduced Working Hour System.

■Leave system for a spouse’s childbirth
By providing employees with up to 10 days of leave when their spouses give birth, we support them as they begin to work together as a family on childcare. This leave can also be used together with childcare leave.

■Reduced working hours for childcare system
We have a system where parents can shorten their working hours by up to 2 hours every day until their children complete 3rd grade in elementary school.

■Child nursing leave system
Until their children complete 3rd grade in elementary school, parents are allowed to take their leave in hourly units to deal with illnesses, injuries, vaccinations and other incidents.

■Leave system for childcare
We have a leave system where parents can take a day off to participate in school events until their children graduate from elementary school, and we encourage the creation of workplaces where leave is easy to take.

■Extension of nursing care leave period
We have introduced a system where employees can extend the legally-stipulated period of nursing care leave to up to 365 days. The company also guarantees part of their salary for the duration of the leave period. This initiative is in place so that the company can support employees as they balance work and life and also prevent employees from resigning due to nursing care.

■Job return system
We have established a "job return system" for reemploying employees who had to resign for unavoidable family circumstances such as marriage, childbirth, childcare or nursing care, but who are now able to resume work. This is designed to support employees who resigned for such personal reasons as they balance both work and life, and to give them a chance to display the skills, abilities and knowledge they cultivated while they were employed. 

【Leave system】
■Paid leave
To let employees use their annual paid leave flexibly and efficiently, we have established a system that allows them to take the leave in one-hour units.

■Volunteer leave
We have a system in place where employees can take a maximum of 5 days a year out of their stocked paid leave as volunteer leave so that they can contribute to society by participating in volunteer activities.

■Refreshment leave
To show our appreciation to employees who have been with the company for 20 continuous years, we have introduced a system to give them a maximum of 5 days of leave and a travel coupon.

■Special reemployment leave
When employees who have reached retirement age are reemployed, we have a system in place allowing them to take 5 days off in a row in order to refresh their minds and bodies and commence their duties upon reemployment with a fresh attitude.

【Reducing overtime hours and encouraging the taking of annual paid leave】
To support the work-life balance of employees, every plant sets one or two days a week as No Overtime Day and seeks to reduce overtime hours.
Additionally, to encourage people to take their annual leave, each individual draws up a leave taking plan, which creates an environment where leave is easy to take.

【Welfare system】
■Selective welfare system
We have introduced and apply a selective welfare system, which we have positioned as the pillar of our welfare activities. Along with meeting the diverse needs of employees and their families, it also serves to enrich the "life" aspect of "work-life balance."

■Company outing
Once every two years, we organize a company outing for all employees to allow employees to interact with each other. Employees can freely choose from multiple options (overnight stay, same-day return, family participation, etc.) for the outing to suit their lifestyles.

■Club activities
We have a wealth of club activities that employees can freely participate in such as baseball, rugby, tennis, bowling and softball.

■Cherry blossom viewing party, summer evening festivals
All of our plants regularly hold events like cherry blossom viewing party and summer evening festivals which many employees take part in every year. Some plants also organize events where employee families are allowed to join in.

We have these other initiatives as well.
