Basic approach to compliance

To ensure that employees do not merely obey laws and rules as a formality but that they understand why those laws and rules are necessary, and that they behave properly based on an understanding of the meaning and intent of laws and rules, the Yamabiko Group has established a “Code of Conduct” to direct the attitudes with which all employees approach their duties, and a “Detailed Code of Conduct” that supplements the Code of Conduct by showing specific ways to respond to situations, and we strive to ensure that business activities are conducted according to the corporate philosophy.
Both the Code of Conduct and the Detailed Code of Conduct are disclosed on our company website.

Initiatives to promote compliance

・Credo card
We distribute “Credo cards,” which are portable booklets containing the Yamabiko Group's “Essence,” “Significant Beliefs” and “Code of Conduct” in seven languages to all employees to ensure that they fully understand the contents, act sensibly and responsibly and fulfill the company's social responsibilities.

・Compliance education
We carry out compliance education to increase employee awareness of compliance. Specifically, we hold training for new employees, and other in-house compliance training, regularly (twice a month) publish articles on various legal topics on a portal website called “Compliance Magazine,” among other awareness-raising activities that form part of our ongoing efforts to ensure compliance.

Internal reporting system

The Group has set up a consultation system (hotline) not only in-house but also outside the company (with a female lawyer) for situations where behavior that violates compliance such as laws, regulations or company rules, or other compliance issues occur (including all kinds of harassment) and it is difficult to resolve the problem in the line of business. A hotline has been established at major affiliates as well.
Yamabiko Corporation has established a Group Compliance Consultation Counter Operating Regulations. based on the Whistleblower Protection Act. It guarantees absolute anonymity for whistleblowers and protects them so that they do not suffer any detrimental effects as a result of making a report.
The contact information for consultations is communicated through internal portal sites and internal posters from time to time.
