Care for the Environment

Promoting activities to improve the environment

The manufacturing processes at the Yokosuka Plant include many special processes like casting, metal working and machining that are not available at other manufacturing plants and which have a major impact on the environment, so in the year 2000 we began efforts to obtain ISO14001: Environmental Management System certification, which we succeeded in getting the following year on June 1, 2001.

On January 29, 2001 before obtaining the certification, we were recognized as an "Environmental Management Plant" as a designated plant that satisfied certain criteria concerning environmental preservation under the Kanagawa Prefecture Act Concerning Living Environment Preservation.

Furthermore, as a result of a revision to the same law, part of the system was changed from October 1, 2020 onwards and from June 1, 2022 we were once again recognized as an "Excellent Environmental Management Plant" for meeting the standards set out in regulations for being a plant that pursues environmental friendliness proactively and voluntarily.

As of June 17, 2022, nine plants in Kanagawa had received that certification, and Yamabiko’s Yokosuka Plant was the only one in Yokosuka city. We will continue to comply with laws and ordinances and apply the ISO14001 certification in order to carry out environmental improvement activities that live up to the name of the Excellent Environmental Management Plant in Yokosuka, Kanagawa.

We have these other initiatives as well.
