Care for the Environment

Activities to preserve the natural environment

As a company that manufactures and sells products closely connected with forests, such as chainsaws, we are actively engaged in environmental conservation activities. We continue to participate in initiatives such as the “Tokyo GreenShip Action” forest conservation program in Tokyo and satoyama (undeveloped woodland)  revitalization activities in Ome City, contributing to the creation of sustainable forest environments in cooperation with local communities.

Many employees and their families participate, sometimes as part of employee training, at other times as a cheerful event where employee families can participate and in many other different forms as well.
Participating employees frequently indicate that they found their participation in the activities beneficial through comments such as, “I think it is good for companies to cooperate with efforts to protect society and nature instead of being obsessed with profit,” and “Although I have opportunities to interact with nature, opportunities to learn about it are rare, so this was a meaningful activity for me.”

They also said things like, “I was able to visit the actual scene of nature conservation and learn how important and difficult it is. I think we need to draw up a long-term vision for the sake of nature in future,” showing that the activity is a good chance for participants to think about nature.
Going forward, we will endeavor to give many employees greater awareness of CSR through such activities and continue to carry out such activities in order to create a corporate culture with a deeply-rooted mindset of participating enthusiastically and voluntarily in various activities both within and outside the company.
■Satoyama Conservation and Utilization Activities in Ome City
In collaboration with Ome City and local organizations, we are engaged in satoyama conservation efforts aimed at restoring neglected forests and effectively utilizing forest resources. We support these activities by providing safety training sessions and equipment, and promote circular use of satoyama resources by reusing felled trees as logs for shiitake mushroom cultivation or as firewood.
Furthermore, through continuous work such as coppicing broadleaf trees and clearing undergrowth, we contribute to restoring biodiversity and preventing wildlife damage and natural disasters.
Ome city holds log shiitake cultivation classes for ordinary citizens every year and distributes woods harvested from local mountains to the citizens. The members of the Ohme Mushroom Production Association are professionals who cultivate precious log-grown shiitake around Japan, and they are undertaking this activity with great enthusiasm.

We have these other initiatives as well.
